There’s a South Park episode that explains this perfectly. When you have a big goal, or if you want to get good at something, you need a montage!
My big goal is to finish this book by the end of the year: The Make it a Game book.
My montage design includes:
Cold plunge in the morning (if you don’t have one, try a shower. Instant caffeine!)
Working out with weights
Writing at least 1 hour per day
Studying game books
Drawing out and designing games
Playtesting with a group
No screens after 8pm
Reduced social media diet (See article here)
My belief:
My belief is that we’re going to need things like to stay sane. A sense of continuity in the hyper now. A development of the will power muscle in the face of full convenience. Adding friction in a world designed to reduce it.
